Enhanced Data Sharing Preferences
What is Enhanced Data Sharing?
Enhanced Data Sharing allows your health information to be shared securely with other healthcare providers involved in your care, ensuring that all the professionals looking after you have access to the most up-to-date information about your health. This can include details such as:
-
Your medical history
-
Diagnoses and treatments
-
Test results
-
Care plans
Sharing this information ensures that your care is better coordinated, especially if you see multiple healthcare providers.
How Does Two-Way Sharing Work?
-
GPs Accessing External Records: If you visit a hospital, specialist, or another healthcare service, they can share details of your treatment and care with us, your GP practice. This means that we can stay up-to-date with what is happening in your care, even if you are seeing healthcare providers outside our practice. For example, we might be able to access hospital discharge summaries, test results, or details about a referral to a specialist.
-
External Providers Accessing GP Records: Similarly, healthcare professionals outside the practice, such as hospital staff, specialists, or pharmacies, can access key details from your GP record when they need it. This can be especially important in emergencies or when you need urgent care. For example, if you go to a hospital with a serious condition, the doctors there can quickly access your medication list, allergies, and any other important health information from your GP records, which helps them make informed decisions about your care.
This two-way exchange ensures that every healthcare provider you see has access to the most up-to-date information about your health, which helps them provide safe, efficient, and coordinated care.
Please note: Your decision about Enhanced Data Sharing is entirely up to you. If you decide not to participate now, you can change your mind at any time by contacting us. If you are unsure or need more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.
