Medicine Management scheme
You can go to the Pharmacist for certain ailments.
There are often times when we know that what we’ve got is
not actually life threatening (a bit of a cough or tummy upset for example) but
we think we’d better see the doctor or the nurse practitioner because they are
the only people who are allowed to give us a prescription.
As part of the Medicines Management Scheme (MMS) pharmacists
work with the doctors and consult and prescribe on their behalf. We have
this arrangement with the following pharmacies:
Alliance Pharmacy (same Building as
the medical practice)
The COOP Pharmacy Next door on
Jasmin Road.
If you or your child have any of the following conditions:
Indigestion
Headache
Hay Fever
Heart Burn
Sore Throat
Head Lice
Tummy Upset
Earache
Thrush
Diarrhoea
Unprotected Sexual Intercourse
Nasal Congestion
Constipation
Urinary Tract Infection
Conjunctivitis
Blocked Nose
Insect Bites
Eczema/Impetigo
Simply go to the pharmacist and receive free advice and
treatment. All you need to do is take with you something to show you are a
patient at the Birchwood Medical Practice (e.g. medical card, repeat
prescription slip, letter from doctor, or a special slip which our receptionists
can give you if you haven’t got any of the above).
